This is an essay I wrote a year ago. I revised a bit.. Seems like I'm a prophet! I nailed the future

Missing Korean Navy battleship-The impact?

Last March 26, 9:22PM, the ROKS Cheonan was patrolling through the southwest direction of the Baeg Ryeoung island. Within seconds, the ship exploded with forty six crew members left dead and with mystery that hasn't been solved since now. This article will mainly express the controversy over who is the offender and what could this accident cause to the global condition.

When the accident was in its early stages, many people were asking, "How could a 1200-ton warship sink without any crucial evidence?" The Ministry of National Defense's declarations eventually grew the public's doubts. People were outraged by the Ministry's late confrontation, and the declarations didn't even match with the statements made by the ones at the scene. While the researches were operating, the society's interest darkly highlighted who destroyed the ROKS 772 ship. While the Ch’ŏngwadae kept neutral, the Ministry of National Defence ultimately drove the suspect to North Korea. While the hot debates continued in South Korea, the North strongly denied the actions and said that of the findings as a fabrication “orchestrated by the group of traitors."

Ships which were committed into the searches found strong evidences, such as the Cheonan ship itself. At 5/15, the fishing boats found the propeller of the torpedo, and this was the 'smoking gun', which means the definite evidence of an accident. After close examinations, the torpedo's name was found to be CHT-02D, which was made in N.K for underwater attack. There were markings by Hangul, and that cleary showed that the torpedo was made by North Korea. At 5/20, the government declared that "The evidence points to the conclusion that the ROKS Cheonan was hit by a torpedo fired by a North Korean submarine. There is no other possible explanation." The North immediately refused to accept the outcome, and even mentioned carrying out an inspection. South Korea's military officials denounced the North's reaction, such as the impeachment by the Minister of National Defence-"It's like a murderer's intention of inspecting the crime scene, and it makes no sense at all."

At 5/15, South Korean president Lee Myung Bak urged firmly at the National Security Council that the Cheonan incident was a clear military provocation committed against the South, and is threatening the cease-fire of 1950. He proclaimed that "The Cheonan provocation violates the U.N Charter, the Armistice Agreement and the South-North Basic Agreement.” It is also heard that the government is studying to activate the right of self-defense.

Starting from June, Washington has finally picked North Korea and “is assessing additional options to hold North Korea accountable,”, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said in Singapore on June 6th. Gates said the sinking, which is an international incident blamed on North Korea, was not an isolated one but a “part of a larger pattern of provocative and reckless behavior” by the North.

Whether or not the South Korean army exercises their right of self-defense, it is obvious that North Korea will receive more sanctions than ever and is bound to be completely isolated from the international society. However, there is a problem. Some say that there will be a full-sized war, but it appears to have extreme low probability of war. Instead, where North Korea has nothing to lose, this Cheonan incident which took away 46 men of the Korean Navy might end in smoke and North Korea unharmed from any ways.
